I have a variety of philosophies when it comes to web design, the internet, and techonlogy.
Every Business Should Have a Website. I am still amazed when I can't find a local business using Google. I don't even use the yellow pages any more, my first stop is always Google. A website is absolutely one of the least expensive forms of advertising out there. Every Business should have a website, even if it is just a single page that describes the business and gives contact information.
Keep it Simple. If you have looked through my portfolio you probably saw a fairly consistent design style in it. I love simple, clean, web design. Adding complexity just confuses users, increases download times, and turns a page into a mess.
Control Your Email. Imagine if you switch ISP's, you email address will not follow you. You will have to give out a new email address to all of your friends. If you control your own domain (i.e. www.yourname.com) you can control your own email addresses (i.e. you@yourname.com). Your email address can follow you from ISP to ISP. Don't let Verizon, AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, or Comcast dictate you email address. |
